I am currently leading the way on 3.7 mods. The stock internals will only handle 5psi max. kenne bell did a prototype s/c and it blew on 5 psi after only 6 or so dyno runs. I forgot to mention this was back in 03 on a liberty. It had the old 42rle transmission (complete crap) and 32 inch tires so the numbers are lower then normal. 3.8L Life Expectancy. Is there anyway I can increase the fuel economy? 3.7 EGR question. I recently had a motor (3.7 from a : 2007 DODGE DAKOTA ST put in my 2006 Jeep commander. It's running very well but I'm getting codes for the EGR and catalytic converter. The original motor did not have the EGR on it but the new one does. Just the other day there was MIL, a day later it went away so i didn't bother checking into it. well maybe a day later my jeep started sticking in maybe 2nd gear from stopping at a red light. i had to turn it off and back on to drive normal. Chrysler introduced the "next generation magnum" engine in 1999 when it first debuted the V8 4.7L engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. In 2002 Chrysler came out with the V6 version of this engine family when it introduced the 3.7L engine in its Jeep Liberty. Both the 4.7L & 3.7L engine were strictly used for Chrysler's trucks and SUVs as they 1. never replace it because today's refined gasolines are so clean that it isn't necessary. 2. replace it after 30,000 miles. 3. replace it after 60.000 miles. 4. don't sweat it unless you can tell that there's a problem. Needs repaint amongst other hassles. About $1000 of work needed right outta the gate. They are dead set on $4600Now on the other hand I found a 2003 Liberty 4x4 in great physical shape (going to check out the rest Monday) and it's $4500 out the door with tags and has only 7000 more miles on it than the I really want to do is go from point A to B reliably as well as trail ride and adventuring. The is pretty reliable in this mileage range, I know. But is the as reliable given the same mileage? I got done and started driving with it still on eco and it was turning on and off. I had it at the dealer to get a new key and asked him what it was.. "yeah that's the MDS".. ok? So I proceeded to ask him how it works.. "yeah, it drops the cylinders down to 3 instead of 6".... OK?? NOWHERE in ANY of my jeep information including the build sheet does it talk about MDS..
